Join us in Inspiring a Food & Fitness Revolution: Addressing Childhood Obesity in the Mid-Hudson Region on March 21, 2012. The conference will host presentations that give us a look into what is currently being done in the region and how we can continue to make our regional programs grow.

Columbia Land Conservancy - Tom Crowell, Director of Outreach and Resource Development, The Columbia Land Conservancy will be a dynamic force in supporting and sustraining a strong and vibrant rural community, where agriculture plays a central role in the economy, where development accessible open spaces and abundant, healthy natural alnds and windlife habitats. Tom will talk about our public conservation areas, the questing program, which was a big hit, and other activities we offer that are family friendly, fun and get kids moving.  
                 Healthy Kingston/Bodyworks-Laurie Mozian and Dave Gilmour, Healthy Kingston for Kids is an initiative that wants to eliminate the barriers that prvent youth from getting enough exercise by creating safe streets, sideswalks, and protected bike lanes.

BodyWorks is a program designed to help parents and caregivers of adolescents to improve family eating and activity habits.

NYSHEPA is a new statewide alliance dedicated to improving policy and practices that promote healthy eating and physical activity. Our vision is to create a statewide environment where all children and adults are eating healthy food and participating in daily physical activity to promote lifelong wellness. Membership is open to any non-profit or public sector organization that is not associated with the food or beverage industry, or to individuals supportive of the goals.

Activity Works - Ted Tolles, Vice president of Sales and Development, intergrates ten minute exercise bursts with core curriculum for elementary classrooms. Scientifically developed, this plug and play program is used to maximize academic performance, combat obesity and meet state mandates for physical education.
